The Wines

The Loire Valley has a long wine tradition. The cellars dug in the tuffeau , the hillsides and vineyard lodges guide you from estates to castles.

The wines of Chinon, Bourgueil or Vouvray are the best known. Several grape varieties are used: cabernet franc for reds and chenin for whites are the most common. Some winegrowers will be able to make you taste wines resulting from other grape varieties such as sauvignon, grolleau or côt.
