The Loire valley

The Loire Valley, with its magnificients chateaux, its beautiful wild rivers, its famous wineyards. Since the middle ages, the region was beloved by the kings of France. A few miles away you’ll discover the gardens of the chateau de Villandry, Chinon and its royal fortress where Joan of Arc met the future King, the famous chateau de Chenonceau, and of course the chateau d’Azay-le-Rideau, the jewel of the beginning of the French Renaissance.

At the heart of the Loire Valley, Azay-le-Rideau is a lovely and nicely located little town. It is also part of the regional natural park, and bicycle, hiking, car, are all possible ways to visit the area and enjoy its local specialties. You will appreciate the tuffeau stone. This very clear local limestone, characteristical of the Loire chateaux, gives an enchanting light to the local architecture.
